Ron Anderson’s “Best Advertising Campaign in the World”
SUSAN MORRIS, AN ASPIRING COPYWRITER ON MICHIGAN AVENUE, SEZ: I have a 10-page xeroxed copy of Ron Anderson’s ad club speech titled “RISK.” He made it about 25 years ago. I wasn’t there. But I’m assuming Mr. Anderson saved his best stuff for last. So I’m sharing the last two pages here. FINALLY, I’d like […]

Freespeech Committee Ads Worth a Second Look
This is one of Ron’s favorite public education campaigns. Mine, too. In fact, I think these 25-year-old ads should be dusted off. Especially when you consider the government’s recent attempt to influence what should be reported and how it should be reported. (Google “Multi-Market Study of Critical Information Needs by the Federal Communications Commission.”)

My first day at Bozell
I’d just unpacked everything and finished with all of the HR kinds of things and Ron came into my office, welcomed me enthusiastically and took me around to meet everyone. I was wondering who I’d be working with, and on what, as he walked me back into his office. “I don’t want to pair you […]

Scientists Discover Ron Anderson’s Ego
Krtbrgtzz, Norway—A team of international superstars in the field of megamicrobiology have discovered what they believe to be the smallest component of matter in the universe: Ron Anderson’s ego. The discovery came with the aid of a nuclear-powered microscope called the XRT5000 that uses satellites in a low-earth orbit to capture images below the sub-sub-atomic level. […]

12 things you should know about Ron’s buddy, Bert Gardner
Bert was the son of a traveling salesman who took his family along via a travel trailer that would be stationed in roadside campgrounds. By age 16, he had lived in 47 different states. As a boy, he fashioned a radio from an oatmeal box and wire, and a love of storytelling blossomed as he enjoyed […]

Ron Anderson and Litton Microwave Ovens
Litton Microwave Ovens was a Bozell/Minneapolis client and a difficult client at that. We’d had several different teams working on it and we’re getting nowhere. So Ron put himself and Bert Gardner on it, as well as teaming me with Tom Donovan. We all rode out to Litton in Ron’s car, with a layout case […]

My job interview with Ron Anderson
I’d won some awards at Campbell-Mithun. And Ron had hired one of my art director partners there, Sheila Berrigan. Ron called shortly thereafter and asked me stop by early one morning to chat. We sat out on his balcony overlooking the interior of Butler Square. There were orange juice, coffee and fresh croissants from the […]

Ron Anderson, Photographer’s Model
Change the headline in this ad from “in annual reports” to “on LinkedIn” and I bet this small space ad by Ron and Gary LaMaster could win another award today.
